THE SISTERHOOD by Anthony Weedon

A local book launch for THE SISTERHOOD by Anthony Weedon will take place in North Somercotes Church Hall on Thursday, 26 November at 7.30 pm when the author will be present to sign copies of all the copies purchased. The local Air Ambulance will stand to benefit from this occasion. Gary Woods, the well known photographer, will be there to open proceedings and cider will be provided by local cider producer Guy Williams.

THE SISTERHOOD is a fictional account, based on factual observations of life in a small English village, of what it would be like if women were realistically in charge of all the important aspects of life. With never a dull moment the reader is drawn along from one intriguing escapade to another as a determined set of ladies make their presence felt in a series of attention holding, often steamy, scenarios ably assisted by the desirable Roy, the man chosen to become their number one male mascot.

THE SISTERHOOD is Anthony Weedon’s second published novel following on from his successful first novel, ARTICHOKES WITH ALICE, which is due to be published in a second edition early in 2010. THE SISTERHOOD is available from all leading booksellers in the USA, Canada, the UK and Ireland and may also be purchased from TESCO and online from AMAZON.

Anthony has won several poetry prizes, including the Crabbe Memorial Prize, and some of his poems have appeared in magazines including COUNTRY LIFE. His poem PREFERENCES is due to be published at the end of this year by Forward Press in an anthology of poems by poets of the British Isles.

Regular open mic nights.

The first Multiarts Project open mic night was on 24th April at the Woodman pub, Louth and was a complete success! Thankyou to everybody who came, played, raised money and had fun. We raised a whopping £142 which has been divided equally between the project and the Women's Aid Refuge in Grimsby (Women's aid 24hr contact 01472575757.)

Following the success of the night and after talking to the wonderful Woodman landlady, the open mic night has been booked in to become a monthly event! It will take place every 1st Friday of the month, starting Friday 5th June. We will continue to charge £2 for performers and £3 for non performers, and the money will continue to be divided equally between the project and the Women's Aid Refuge in Grimsby. Doors open at 8pm and absolutely everyone is welcome to come and perform, raise money and enjoy some live entertainment. For further information please contact Kat.
